Help us to help you
At SeniorTimes, we listen to what our readers say. At the recent 50 Plus Expo, you told us that you want more adventurous holidays and short breaks. You’re looking for breaks to inspire, to try new experiences and have fun, whether solo or with friends. So, we’re calling all Group Organisers (and when we say Group Organisers, this can be Active Retirement Groups or simply someone who organises trips for a few friends). So, whether your group is interested in sport, steam trains, music, the Arts, food, gardening, travelling, history, painting, shopping – or all of the above! we want to hear from you.
We’re going to start including some ideas for Group Tours on the Senior Times website and Magazine.
They will include Days Out or Short Medium Breaks in Ireland and the UK – for starters. How about learning how to appreciate wine, in an eighteenth century mansion, or make pottery, get some bargains at a top UK designer discount village or factory shop. Become a `set jetter’ and see the locations for your favourite TV dramas. Try floating down the Thames or underground in Marble Arch Caves Geopark Take a guided tour of the gardens in a Royal residence, learn how to make jewellery, visit the home and surroundings of one of your favourite authors or enjoy lunch and watch your favourite football team from the luxury of a VIP suite. If you were inspired by TV’s `50 ways to Kill Your Mammy’ why not get in touch with your inner Nancy on an activity break? You could try out the Gobbins Coastal Walk, or the thrill seekers’ Carrick-a Rede Rope Bridge.
We would like to know the size of your group, the types and lengths of breaks normally taken, and what interests the group has, whether you use coach, members’ cars or train/bus transport, professional guides or whether you use a tour/travel company and utilise group travel discounts.
So get in touch with our Travel Editor Lorna Hogg here and tell us the size and type of group you have, or are looking to setup and what your interested in. Maybe you can share your experience with us.
