Paul Gorry chats with people who are involved in various ways in Irish genealogy. The guest for the last episode of the series is Maeve Rogan of the NIFHS
Maeve Rogan holds the voluntary position of Publicity Officer of the North of Ireland Family History Society (NIFHS). She spreads the word about the society on social media and generally promotes its activities. She chats to Paul about the NIFHS, its branches throughout Northern Ireland, its library in Newtownabbey, just outside of Belfast, and her role as Publicity Officer. The NIFHS has been prominent at Back to Our Past (BTOP) in both Dublin and Belfast. Its branches now have lectures by Zoom and attract overseas viewers – even an Antipodean ‘night owl from Perth’. The NIFHS has DNA and memorial card projects as well as transcription opportunities for members. Maeve tells Paul about her own journey to genealogy and about some of the unusual methods she has used to find information. They even discuss the (soon to be famous) Irish Greataunt vs. Grandaunt controversy. They have lots to talk about.
