Mingle Ireland: A New Social Outlet for Connections

    0
By Senior Times on March 15, 2025 Retirement, What's On
Mingle Ireland is a fresh and exciting social outlet where individuals can meet in a relaxed, informal environment. Founded by Fingal businesswomen Jennifer Brennan and Karen Thorpe, the events are designed to enable people to meet and connect, whether they are looking for a romantic connection, companionship or simply want to get out and about and beat that feeling of loneliness

Jennifer, owner of Thrive Marketing, and Karen, founder of Kick-Off Event Management, met through business connections last year. They quickly bonded over their shared experiences of being single business owners, their ‘horrendous’ experiences with dating apps and the lack of safe, enjoyable opportunities for people to connect.

“Karen and I both felt there was a need for a more natural way for people to connect. We’re also acutely aware of how loneliness is a major issue in Ireland. Last year Ireland was labelled as the ‘loneliest place in Europe’ with 20% of Irish people saying they felt lonely most or all of the time” said Jennifer. “We wanted to create a space where people can meet face-to-face in a comfortable setting, and to establish a practical solution to tackling loneliness.”

The first event, called Single Mingle, took place in The Betsy in Swords back in February 2025. Initially designed as an in-person singles event solution the idea quickly evolved. It became very clear that there was also a need for more than just romantic connections. And so Mingle Ireland was born! It is now about fostering genuine connections and tackling loneliness. Our events are for everyone and anyone looking for connections.

“We want everyone to feel welcome and have a good time,” added Karen. “It’s about enjoying the experience, meeting new people, and building meaningful connections. We were inundated after our first event from older people wanting to connect. What started as an event for 35-50 year olds to make romantic connections has quickly evolved into a range of events for lots of different age groups, and lots of different people.”

If you’re looking for a romantic connection, companionship or simply to get out and about and tackle that feeling of loneliness our Mingle Ireland events are for you.
