Mary Kennedy talks Dr Nuala O’ Connor, GP and HSE lead for antimicrobial resistance and infection control. Nuala is also the Irish College of General Practitioners lead advisor on Covid-19 and antibiotic resistance. Since COVID-19 was declared a pandemic she has been supporting general practice to adapt to new ways of working to ensure that general practice is a safe place for patients to be seen and for the GP team to work in. Dr O’Connor also works on patient education relating to reducing antibiotic resistance.
We know that it is difficult at the moment. Many older people and those with long-term illnesses have been following the COVID-19 public health guidelines and the next 5 months will be tough at times.
