MASTERS of Disguise! Artists Go Incognito for a Great Cause…

    The INCOGNITO Art Sale,
in aid of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation,
    is Back Bigger Than Ever!

INCOGNITO, Ireland’s much-loved mystery art sale in aid of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation is back, more thrilling than ever, taking place on Wednesday, April 26.

What makes Incognito so much fun and exciting for art fans, is that the artist behind each postcard-sized original piece of artwork is kept top secret. Only when the sale is over is the artist’s identity finally revealed!

Now in its seventh year, with almost three thousand artworks from over 1,000 artists participating from home and abroad, this year’s Incognito art sale will be the biggest yet!

The Incognito art sale is about turning art into a currency for care. The funds raised through Incognito will translate into specialist in-home nursing care hours for over 400 children, from birth to six years of age, who have highly complex medical conditions and live in communities across the country. Jack and Jill also provides end-of-life care for all children up to the age of six, irrespective of diagnosis.

Among the superstars to have taken part in the past have been Bob Geldof, Bruce & Patti Springsteen, Bono, The Edge, Ronnie Wood, and Paul Costelloe, while high-profile artists have included Robert Ballagh, Tracey Emin, Helen Steele, Ruthie Ashenhurst, Abigail O’Brien and Maser, to name but a few.

From March 31, when the Incognito collection goes live on www.incognito.ie, interested purchasers must register and select their favourite artworks in order of preference into their Wish Lists. When the sale takes place on April 26, it is the luck of the draw as to who gets what and the charity expects that everything will sell out on this first day, based on sales interest in previous years.

While the charity is planning on a smaller-scale live sale the day after, art collectors are advised not to leave it to chance that their favourite artworks will still be available to buy after the sales draw has taken place on April 26 – you can’t win if you’re not in!

No matter who the artist is, each postcard-sized artwork is priced at €65, with funds raised going to provide Jack and Jill’s vital in-home nursing care and respite support, which is a lifeline for so many families across Ireland.

    Picture Perfect
Incognito curator, Lucinda Hall, has the coveted job of sifting through thousands of postcard artworks. So, what are the most sought-after artworks?

“While there is much about Incognito for which I am sworn to secrecy, I can reveal that artworks featuring farm animals are among the most sought-after works. Cows are always hugely popular, followed by pigs, hens and even goats!

“Of course, you’d think painting a postcard might be so much easier than painting a big canvas, but the artists frequently tell me that a postcard is actually much more of a challenge. Undaunted, our artists really have gone the extra mile this year to create works that I know will really capture people’s imaginations.

“I have to say that if people have ever been intrigued by art, but felt a little out of their comfort zone, or never quite had the cash to splash, at €65 an artwork, Incognito is the perfect way to get a collection started.

“Whether by a renowned artist, or an up-and-coming talent, one thing’s for sure, you’ll have selected a piece that you’ve already fallen in love with. Plus, your donation will go to support the hugely important work of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation. Things couldn’t be more picture perfect!”

Friday March 31 – Incognito 2023 Collection Launches!
The collection goes live to view on www.incognito.ie. From this date, Incognito fans who want to purchase artworks are asked to register their Incognito account, peruse the collection and select the artwork(s) they would like to buy, in order of preference, into a Wish List. All updates to Incognito Wish Lists must be completed and finalised by 10am on Wednesday, April 26, when the Incognito Sale takes place.

Wednesday April 26 at 10am – Incognito Sale.

From 10am on April 26, all artworks on Wish Lists are automatically entered into a sales draw where one lucky purchaser is selected for each artwork (€65 each) at random. The system will attempt to purchase up to three artworks per Wish List and in the order of preference. Purchasers are advised to look out for notifications from their financial providers to authorise payments and secure their favourite artwork(s).

    Thursday April 27

The sale will continue until all artworks have been sold.

Friday April 28 – Incognito Artist Reveal.
Once all of the artworks are sold, the mystery artist behind each postcard is revealed!

About the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation

The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation is an Irish children’s charity that funds and delivers specialist home nursing and end-of-life care for children from birth to six years of age who have highly complex and life-limiting medical conditions. Its mission is to empower parents to care for their child at home, where they belong, in communities across Ireland, because there is no care like home care for a Jack and Jill child.

The charity mobilises a crew of nurses, operates seven days a week, with no means test, no red tape and no waiting list and over 2,800 families have been supported since Jack and Jill’s establishment over 25 years ago in 1997.

The charity must raise over €6 million per annum to keep its vital service going, and currently supports over 400 families with up to 80 hours of home nursing care per month at a cost of €1,440 per month, or €17,280 per year. The support is often described as ‘a gift of time’ or a ‘lifeline’, giving parent carers and siblings a break from their 24/7 care regime, safe in the knowledge that their child is well cared for at home by an expert.
